A Bigger View of Our Political Climate
The unexpected action of the FBI Director yesterday gave me hope that our institutions have not been irreversibly damaged. He followed his moral integrity and I trust that will carry him through the barrage of negativity and pressure from the top down who do not hold that quality in high regard. I have had my own experiences testing my moral compass. I acted by giving 2 week notice at the peak of my career and as the family provider, after working for the company for 13 years. I consider character and moral integrity number 1 in any person.
If we stand back and look at the Depart of Justice, it is imperative that it does not become contaminated by any one's party political agenda like the IRS and VA have. The people at the top come and go, but the institutions remain. Their internal structure can only stay effective if there are those who are willing to step up and ensure that it does maintain its neutrality when it comes to justice. As the saying goes, and Mr. Nixon learned, no one is above the law.
Historically, the Democratic and Republican Parties have taken turns running the government in its various branches. That is a balance needed so no one party can usurp our government structure based on ideologue. We need to always strive for high moral integrity at the top on down to include the individual, regardless of who is in office.
Today, we have a situation where both political parties are the same. When this occurs, the equilibrium is thrown off balance and our constitutional structure becomes weakened. To get back on track, a disruptor from the outside is needed. We have that with Mr. Trump.
I consider our debt of almost $20 trillion our biggest threat. It limits our ability to act as a country when a crisis or a big event occurs that requires money. I strongly believe that we need a business person as president who will act in ways that get this under control. The worst case scenario is being forced to reduce everyone's standard of living by default. No one, at any level of our government stands out as a champion of tackling this huge hole we have created in the fabric of our country.
My hope today is that it is not too late given the size of the debt and its trajectory.
