Housing and Attitude

Big numbers have come out; existing home sales down 27%, new home sales down 12%, the largest ever in the month of July. The postponement that government intervention with home buying credits and refinancing underwater loans caused is now over. We should have had this fallout last year. Now it is going to continue into 2011 and 2012. This makes me think that we did not move out of the recession as the experts told us. We have been in it all along and the discussion around 'double dip' is misnomer. When there is uncertainty like this that continues year after year, the lenders naturally contract and hold back funds. It is a paradox and can only change at the grass roots level. The government is ineffective when trying to manage it.

In this midst of this, my husband and I have spent a week trying to find a lender on a home we would like to buy in Southern Oregon. I am fascinated by the stories and ignorance among the different lenders' representatives. They err on this side of saying no. We are looking for the open door. It only takes one to say yes.

Use this period in life to see how you want to participate in what the world is experiencing, knowing that as an individual you have a lot of power. It may not appear that way, but know that it is true. The foreclosures continue unabated every week and behind each one is an individual(s) who lost their home. Like your vote, every action accumulates and once the critical mass is reached by enough of us participating, like in this example, the walls come tumbling down. The whole world feels the earthquake.

We need to change our attitude on how we view reality to make a permanent change that will reach the top; the world governments. Again, it's one individual at a time that makes the difference.

Security Outside Can Only Be Found Within

Life today reflects uncertainty and insecurity at the survival level for many people, mainly because of the debt levels and government policies that are encouraging job contraction. Even public/government employees are at risk, especially at the state levels.

In my working career, I thought that security resided in how much money I had. In 1991, my annual salary was in excess of $80k. I was an active investor in stocks, metals, options and so on. In the fall of 2000, I learned how to live on $20 a week for a while while using a car as my home. This, along with other experiences like breast cancer, taught me that anything in the material, including my physical person, being used for security is an illusion. Flux and change are natural parts of life. Energy does not stand still for anyone.

My security today lies in the illumination of what I am experiencing on my path. Enlightenment is the safety net, catching me when I fall. What are you relying on for your security; faith from your spiritual beliefs, self-confidence of your ability to overcome, inner strength to persevere and endure, hope with the understanding that life balances out the good and bad? If you are seeking to preserve your material world in order to feel safe, consider these inner invisible ways. They are stable, reliable, and dependable.

We do have to participate in the world to care for ourselves and others who depend on us, but if we can have a solid foundation within to depend on, the harshness of life will have smoother edges and that feeling of self-empowerment will wash over onto others who are controlled by their fears and blown by the winds of change.

World, Country, Individual Evolution

I see the U.S. government acting in a redundant manner. Democrats and Republicans are acting in their respective grooves which does not help the public at all in a lasting way. History shows they take turns controlling congress and the white house, and neither show a responsibility to living within the country's financial means. We continue to weaken ourselves by borrowing from other countries, mainly China.

This morning an article appeared stating that China has a missile that will be completed by the end of this year. It's purpose is to destroy the aircraft carriers, which up to now have had no predators. The U.S. has operated freely on the oceans with these vessels. After reading this, I have concluded that there will always a be balancing act, of some kind, between countries along with the balancing act within a country. Mother Nature will participate on her schedule to add more excitement to our challenges.

Each of us is here to learn the balancing act within. This world reflects where we stand collectively as we work on it, consciously or unconsciously. If we are conscious, we will take personal responsibility for our thoughts, behavior, and actions. If we are unconscious, we will project these onto others and continue the movie that runs indefinitely.

I am ready to take this blog in another direction that I have alluded to with sprinkles of my philosophy intermingled with the outer events and opinions. Stay tuned. :)
